We are a group of parishioners striving to build a feeling of community in St. Hugh’s congregation. Our regular meetings and fund-raising efforts are centred on the coffee mornings held every week after the Sunday morning Mass.
We raise money for various charities by serving coffee and biscuits whilst holding a raffle – and talking. Some members will bring along prizes, others, home baked cakes, marmalade and preserves for sale. Children are welcome and provided with soft drinks and biscuits.
We have instituted a fund named to honour the memory of the late Liz Nightingale our tireless parish secretary. It donates money to Fr. Peter Phiri (who come to supply for us in 2008) to help maintain his desperately needy parish in Malawi and other needy causes that arise from time to time.
The coffee mornings are always well attended and so serve as a conduit for church related information. Shared tables for various functions are planned here. We also hold an annual dinner, and arrange pilgrimages and seasonal visits to the Panto. All parishioners, new and old and their offspring are welcome to participate.
